VIUM Capital Teams Up Against Cancer, Raising $250k For Flatwater’s Dam That Cancer Event

Senior housing and healthcare lender VIUM Capital (“VIUM”) celebrates another inspiring year at Dam That Cancer, coming together to raise $250,000+ in support of the Flatwater Foundation’s mission to offer emotional therapy for families affected by cancer. To date, VIUM has generated over $452,000 in total for the charity.

On June 30, 2025, Team VIUM rose to the challenge, with 16 paddlers and one volunteer,taking to Lake Austin to complete the 21-mile course. Each stroke was powered by purpose and compassion, paddling in honor of their own, the Scott Blount family, and in solidarity with all those facing life-changing diagnoses.

VIUM Senior Managing Director, Scott Blount and his family have been touched by the mission of Flatwater in the services it provides. Blount contacted Flatwater after his wife’s stage 4 cancer diagnosis when he found himself overwhelmed with life’s new obstacle thrown in his family’s direction; Flatwater delivered. “The therapist that I selected has been crucial for my mental well-being, which is often overshadowed by the monetary impact cancer imposes on families,” Scott Blount said. “Supporting this cause is more than just a simple donation, but yields true outcomes that are valued and heartfelt in the wake of diagnosis. Ultimately, my family and I are blessed by my partners and colleagues leaning into Flatwater’s mission and supporting my family every step of the way.”

The Flatwater Foundation’s mission runs deep: to ensure that families confronting a cancer diagnosis have access to vital emotional and mental health support. Their annual paddleboard event, Dam That Cancer, brings together hundreds of paddlers on Lake Austin to raise awareness and funds for this important cause. Their commitment to supporting emotional wellness during physical treatment creates a profound and lasting impact.

Since its inception in 2010, the Flatwater Foundation has delivered more than 74,000 therapy sessions to over 3,500 families across the state of Texas. This year, they surpassed their fundraising goal, breaking $1,500,000,  enough to fund more than 14,000 additional therapy sessions for families facing the unthinkable.
